Swim Lessons

Swim Lessons

Learning to swim at the YMCA is crucial for both safety and overall well-being. According to the CDC, drowning is the leading cause of unintentional injury-related death for children ages 1-4. The skills taught in these lessons—like “swim, float, swim”—can be life-saving. Beyond safety, swimming is a fantastic, low-impact exercise that improves cardiovascular health, builds endurance, and increases flexibility. The group environment also helps develop important social skills like teamwork and sportsmanship, and the sense of accomplishment from mastering a new skill can significantly boost a person’s self-confidence and self-esteem. The Y has a long history as a leader in aquatics, with a century of experience teaching millions of people to swim.
